Finally some good news - we're off again!

Good news everyone!

Van Diesel is back up and running and has been behaving herself for long enough we've decided she deserves a holiday.  We've booked some ferry tickets and next Thursday (20th) we’re off!  The ferry drops us off at Dunkirk since our first stop will be Belgium.  We’re hoping to spend Christmas in one of the beautifully romantic cities of Ghent or Bruges. After that we’ll be heading down Eastern France before visiting Chris’ brother, his partner and their new baby in Geneva, Switzerland.  Further south afterwards to the Cote d’Azur and from there the plan goes a little wishy washy as to whether we turn left towards Italy or right back to Spain.  It’ll be a shorter trip this time as our insurance runs out at the end of March and I don’t think we can afford to renew it!

If anyone has any recommendations of places to visit on our vague idea of a route let us know and be sure to come back next week to follow the next leg of our European adventure!

  1. Great to learn that Van Diesel is well again. Hope you have a wonderful trip. Just a thought; why not go to Genoa in Italy after you've been to Geneva? After Genoa you could then continue to Cote D'Azur. Here's a few places to see in Genoa: -

    1. Hello again!
Genoa looks gorgeous. I hope we can make it to Italy on our travels as there are so many wonderful places to visit. We're a little wary of the drivers though and the costly fuel pumps! I don't suppose you know of any good parking spots in Genoa do you? I remember reading that the guys at Ourtour.co.uk had difficulty finding a spot when they visited.
      Thanks!

    2. We’ve never been – although it is on our list for next year. The Italians call a motorhome rest area/aire “area di sosta”. They also refer to Genoa as “Genova” in the Liguria region.

There is an aire here: - http://www.pons.it/area-di-sosta/ which is 5 kms from the centre of Genoa.

There is also a list of aires here: - http://www.turismoitinerante.com/php/sosta/italia/visu_reg.php?s_Regione=Liguria& … but it’s in Italian.

      Hope this helps.
