Unhappy Birthday to me

23.09.12 Barcelona
Yesterday I had a wonderful birthday in Barcelona until we returned to the van to find we'd been broken into. They took both laptops and a watch. We're both ok but annoyed and will be making our trip back to the UK sooner than anticipated. Understandably no normal blog posts for a little while until we get ourselves sorted again. Will keep you all posted as well as we can.

  2. Hi Tracey,
Thanks for your message. We were going to be heading back to the UK after 6 months anyway to freshen up the van and catch up with friends and family. We´re just having to do it a bit sooner now! Hopefully we can get everything sorted and get back on the road to Italy soon!
    Thanks

  3. Happy belated birthday, Ali. Gutted to hear that the van was broken into. Hope it doesn't spoil the remainder of your journey.

  4. Hello
We have been following your blog for free camping tips as we're doing a similar trip, just a few miles behind (we're in Tarragona at the mo). We were broken into in Portugal while parked at the beach. We felt properly gutted, think we went through a bit of a grieving process, but be reassured you will feel better soon! Good luck with your future travels,
    Lucy and Ralph

  5. Hi Guys

I really look forward to reading your blog...So sorry to hear about your break in. Security in a van is always difficult. Don't be put off tho! A good alam system and a metal strong box will always be a good idea. Hope to see you on the road next year when we follow in your footsteps.

    Best wishes

    Antonia

  6. Hi everyone,
Thank you all for your lovely messages. Its always great to hear from fellow campers and heart warming to read your nice sentiments. We're back in the UK picking up the pieces at the moment and hopefully will be able to get back on the road soon.
    *fingers crossed*
    Thanks again
    Ali and Chris.

  7. Thinking about your break-in, how did they get in? The most vulnerable part of a Talbot is the cab doors. We have additional deadlocks fitted to ours. Worth considering for peace of mind? We also have locks on the habitation windows.

So sorry to hear of your latest problem with the turbo. Hope once it's sorted all will be well again. Look forward to hearing that you are back travelling. Really miss our regular 'fix' of your adventures.

    Best Regards
